New Gucci Watches
Tags: Gucci, Watch

The mens I-Gucci timepiece selection above depicts 2 timezones in digital format on the face of the watch. At 12 o’clock we have the away, and at the 6 index we have the local time indicated. At the 3 o’clock index the second display is visible. The watch with the GG strap a more convincing timepiece. I feel the green-red accent’s aesthetic is a needed hallmark detail. It’s what distinguishes the watch from the rest of the collection. Following the jump: the G Chronograph watch in black PVD appeals to me in the same way as the stripe decals the 4 o’clock index. Also after the jump: the G Chrono Extension’s case is set in diamonds totaling .78 carats. The chronographs are water resistant upto 3ATM and are equipped with scratch proof sapphire crystal lenses. These Gucci watches are Swiss made and new arrivals at Bergdorf Goodman. Prices range from $1,295-$4,390.

Social Suicide Fashion Diktat
Tags: fashion, menswear, Social Suicide

In the coming weeks Social Suicide’s fall collection is slated for release. Their creativity and quality is top notch and the social commentary that surrounds each hand made collection makes me even more curious to know what this season has to bring. This collection is inspired by 20th century dictators and tyrants, both hero’s and villains. Who should we expect? Well, there will be eight characters, eight cuts and eight stories: Malcolm X, Winston Churchill, JFK, Charles de Gaulle, Nelson Mandela, Chairman Mao, General Kalashnikov and last but not least Benito Mussolini.

The Bloomframe Balcony
Tags: balcony, Bloomframe, design, video

Bloomframe has to be one of the best of the practical architectural innovations. The Dutch designers Hofman Dujardin Architects won a slew of awards for their product that is now on the commercial market. With the casual click of the remote, an unsuspecting window transforms into a glass balcony. Coming in several sizes, this balcony would pimp up your apartment adding square footage to any room. That is, if you can get it installed. But surely, we’ll be seeing the Bloomeframe in newly built apartments ready equipped sometime soon.

John Varvatos Belted Trench

John Varvatos just launched their online store last week. Pity they ship only to US addresses. I’m liking this piece. This snug black double breasted trench is claimed to be a runway favorite. It has taped seams and the fabric is coated with a special oil which giving the garment a light water repellency. Made in Italy. Cost: $1,495.

The Chemistry of Wine Service

Beppi Crosariol has his Decanter column in the Globe and Mail’s Life section. Great perspectives and advice on wine, liquor and alcohol of all types. Over time, via his quasi-educational reporting any pedestrian alcoholic could be brought to full literacy. It this installment we learn the depths of what types of wine - grape or vintage, in what sequence and what temperature it is ideal to serve several them. For example, when and where you should serve a Chateau Mouton 1982. To paraphrase Beppi, don’t put an acoustic set on stage after a Metallica show. And apparently, it isn’t sacrilege to cool down a glass of wine with ice. (Pity he doesn’t go into advising the stemware or decanters for that matter.)

Bamford & Sons have been making bespoke watches since 2004. Bamford’s watchmakers aesthetically modify luxury timepieces. Their website has a personalization app where you can experiment unique colour combinations on either Tag Heuer or Rolex watches that are available for online purchase. Note the blue colour and Colette logo on the face of the Rolex Milgauss (pictured above). This limited edition black PVD coated Rolex will be available at Colette sometime this month.
